Since 1956, Citizens Medical Center has helped Victoria earn the reputation as
one of the best places to live in America for quality health care. Citizens Medical
Center is a 344-bed acute care hospital providing Victoria and South Texas
with the technology and medical sophistication of a metropolitan area and the
personal care of a small town. Citizens Medical Center’s service area includes the
surrounding counties, with a referral population of 140,000. The medical staff
consists of 220 physicians representing 36 medical specialties. The
Medical Center’s commitment to quality was recognized multiple
times by Thomson Reuters as one of the Nation’s 100 Top Hospitals
by receiving the Thomson Reuters 100 Top Hospitals®: National
Benchmarks for Success award.

DeTar Healthcare System serves the Crossroads area and its residents with acute and chronic condition care, from
heart and stroke emergencies to weight loss and rehabilitation therapy, to improve quality of life. The 304-bed acute
care system includes two hospitals, DeTar and DeTar North Women’s and Children’s Hospital. DeTar Heathcare System
provides a comprehensive cardiac program, an accredited Chest Pain Center, the area’s only Medicare-certified inpatient
rehabilitation, Level III and Level IV Trauma Centers, and a Joint Commission-accredited Primary Stroke Center.
There are 330 doctors and healthcare professionals on staff. DeTar’s patient-centered team of doctors, nurses, employees
and volunteers work hard every day to be a place of healing, caring and connection for patients and families in the
community we call home. DeTar is the first hospital in the Crossroads to have a residency program for physicians in
partnership with Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine.
